Inspiration of the Self-Reliance 30-Day Writing Challenge

To celebrate Ralph Waldo Emerson's 208th birthday (May 25th, 1803), Self-Reliance urges us to trust our intuition rather than conforming to the will of the majority.

Beginning on May 31st, 2011, The Ralph Waldo Emerson Self-Reliance website*** will post a daily prompt. This will continue for 30 days.

This is my unique creation of personal reflection and responses, based on those prompts.

Today

Day 3 prompt:
Your genuine action will explain itself, and will explain your other genuine actions. Your conformity explains nothing. The force of character is cumulative. – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance
If ‘the voyage of the best ship is a zigzag line of a hundred tracks,’ then it is more genuine to be present today than to recount yesterdays.
How would you describe today using only one sentence?

My reply:

Today, the possibilities are endless, by living, accepting and appreciating each one NOW precious present moment; as my reaction (or lack of) allows me to manage each difficulty and to survive each challenge, and presents an opportunity to fully absorb the joy and happiness in each moment filled with serenity and tranquility.

Today’s writing assignment prompt is to “describe today using only one sentence”.  But, as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Your genuine action will explain itself, and will explain your other genuine actions. Your conformity explains nothing”.  It is my understanding that Emerson believed in uniqueness and individuality.  Therefore, although I followed the instruction with only one sentence, I chose to create it in a long run-on sentence, as this expresses the eccentricity of my own personal mysterious magical peculiarity.
